Changes to Repeat Prescription Ordering

Greater Manchester GP practices are changing the way patients order their repeat prescriptions.

From September 2026, GP practices will no longer accept repeat prescription requests from community pharmacies. Patients are therefore being encouraged to order their repeat medication directly from their GP practice using one of the following methods:

  1. NHS App – preferably
Order your repeat medication through the NHS App. If you need help setting this up, please contact us or your GP practice.

Important: Please check that your nominated pharmacy has not been changed in the NHS App and that your prescription is still being sent to your usual pharmacy.

  1. Repeat prescription slip or written request
Complete your repeat prescription slip or write your request on paper and place it in the prescription box located within the GP reception area.
  2. By telephone – if you are aged 80 and housebound
Patients aged 80 or over and housebound can request their repeat prescriptions by telephone between 2pm and 4:30pm Mon-Fri.

If you have any concerns or questions about these changes, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will be happy to help.
